It was the X100 which started Fujifilm’s now famous X100 Series of cameras. The design approach, it appears, is to provide good-looking and practical models that reflect the ergonomics of film cameras, yet are embodied with all the modern features and technology available.

The fifth iteration in Fujifilm’s X100 Series, the X100V, is claimed to be a significant upgrade over previous models. The X100V’s body has top and bottom plates milled from single pieces of aluminium, forming a refined and classic camera body with clean edges. Finished with an aluminite satin coating, slight enhancements have also been made to the camera’s grip, ISO dial and lens barrel, making it more comfortable to hold and operate.

The X100V is the first camera in the X100 Series to have weather resistance, when the optional AR-X100 adaptor ring and the PRF-49 protection filter are attached to the camera’s lens. Additionally, a new two-way tilting LCD touchscreen sits at the back of the camera and adds another first for the series, providing intuitive touch controls and unlocking even more possibilities for photographers to see, frame and create images.

A new 23mm f2.0 lens is a significant step up from the lenses used on past X100 Series cameras. However, it maintains the same small size and compatibility with legacy wide-angle and telephoto conversion lenses, while adding an internal 4-stop ND filter.

The X100V’s 26.1-megapixel sensor uses a back-illuminated design to maximise quality and dynamic range, while Fujifilm’s unique colour filter array controls moiré and false colour without the need for an optical low-pass filter. And a vastly improved hybrid viewfinder enables you to quickly and easily choose between the 0.52x magnification optical viewfinder (OVF) and the 3.69M dot OLED electronic viewfinder. The camera also records 4K video up to 30 frames per second or captures 120 frames per second at 1080p, to create super slow motion effects.
