Help Us Help Kallam
This is your chance to own a collector's limited edition ND5 photograph with all profits going to help a fellow photographer and his family in their time of need.
These are farmlands just below the Stirling Ranges in Western Australia. The lines are sheep tracks and the little dots are sheep. There may be a sheep dog or a kangaroo as well, but I haven't found them yet.
In post-production, the main tool I used was contrast. Most of the colour was already there, it just required a little work to bring it out - and yes, a touch of saturation in a few areas to give the image a lift.
It's one of my favourite shots from the ND5 South West Light project that I didn't get to exhibit. It's collateral damage, one might say, when working with a collaborative - Christian had a great shot taken on the same flight. However, our agreement is that after the exhibition, we're all entitled to do what we wish with our photographs and this may explain why you sometimes see photographs of ours that are similar to one of the other ND5 photographers.
But back to the reason for showing you this photograph. When the ND5 group heard that their friend Kallam was very ill and that he and his young family were in need of help, we wondered what we could do. Well, here's a suggestion that we hope you will consider to be involved with.
Special ND5 Print Offer - $145
During the month of April, ND5 is offering four unframed prints, each at an incredibly affordable price because we want to encourage lots of sales. The image size is 17x17” with a 2” white border for a print size of 21x21.5”. The prints will be specially embossed with the ND5 logo - it will look sensational on your office wall (tax deductible) or at home.
The price for each print is just $145 plus postage and packaging within Australia, or you can buy a set of 4 prints for just $560. Imagine that on your office or home wall!
There's also just one large version of each print for our wealthy benefactors (38x38” with a white border of 3” for a total size of 44x44.5”). This will be edition number 1 and will be available for $4950. All other images will start from number 2 and the edition will be out of what ever number we sell during April.
All profits will go to Kallam. So what do we mean by 'all profits'? ND5 is providing the images. Kayell Australia and Canson Infinity are providing the paper, and Christian Fletcher's staff will print and package the prints. The ND5 group will pay for the ink. (Overseas purchasers - we may ask you to pay a little more to cover the extra postage, but it's up to you.)
Please note that this special ND5 print offer is only valid for the month of April.
You will be able to order your print by email or phone and the earlier you get in, the lower the edition number you will receive. Click here to see a larger version of the photographs on the ND5 website: http://www.nd5.com.au/p591854261

How Cool Is Lumix's Little Travel Camera
Panasonic's cute little TZ110 travel compact.
What has happened to the compact camera? Not so many years ago, I can remember asking the camera manufacturers if they thought the smart phone was a danger to their market. With a flourish of defiance, all said that smart phones would never replace the compact camera, and while that might be true to some extent, the number of compact cameras sold today is but a fraction of its heyday.
