Fujifilm GFX Lenses

The success of any new camera system depends on its lenses and so it hasn’t taken Fujifilm very long to release two new optics, quickly bringing the GFX medium format range up to six lenses.

However, being medium format lenses, they are not cheap, but they are incredibly sharp and clear, and no doubt designed for future 100-megapixel sensors (the Fujifilm GFX 50S is currently a 50-megapixel design).

The Fujinon GF 110mm f2 R LM WR (RRP $4,299) is a medium telephoto lens and ideal for portraits. With a focal length equivalent to 87mm in the 35mm format, a maximum f2 aperture produces beautiful out-of-focus backgrounds. However, what will really knock you out is the sharpness of the focused image. The 110mm has 14 elements in nine groups - including four ED lens elements – so spherical aberrations and chromatic aberrations are suppressed.

The Fujinon GF 23mm f4 R LM WR (RRP $3,999) has an impressive angle-of-view, with a focal length equivalent to 18mm in the 35mm format. Lens construction comprises 15 elements and 12 groups, including two aspherical elements, one super ED element and three ED elements. Fujifilm claims high resolution performance all the way to the edges.

Both lenses are dust and weather resistant, and capable of operating in environments as cold as -10°C. They are also equipped with a linear motor, allowing for fast and quiet shooting with autofocus, and accessories include a lens hood and lens pouch.
